Biden spokeswoman says G7 footage shows ‘disinformation is alive and well’ at george magazine

President Joe Biden‘s campaign spokeswoman attempted to correct the record Friday about the G7 footage that showed the president wandering away from the other world leaders.

Adrienne Elrod appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to provide context about Biden seemingly walking in a different direction from other world leaders in Italy. At the time, everyone was watching a skydiving demonstration in Borgo Egnazia, and the Biden campaign said he was eager to greet those who had just landed via parachute. However, according to Elrod, the video edited out the earlier footage that showed the troops, making it appear that the president was wandering off on his own.

“Disinformation is alive and well. We have to use surrogates and voices across the country to combat this and make it clear that not only do we not play this game, but, to your point, President Biden was out there literally representing America at the G7, saluting our troops, you know, doing what he does as president of the United States,” Elrod said. “And look, we’re going to see more of this. This is just the reality of campaigning in 2024. So, we have to combat that disinformation. We have to hit it hard when it happens and make it clear that these are dirty tactics that MAGA Republicans are using because they can’t run on the issues.”

Biden is under increased scrutiny as the oldest sitting president in history at 81. Should he win his reelection bid in November, he will be 86 at the end of his second term.

Elrod joined the campaign earlier this year as Biden’s spokeswoman and senior adviser. She heads her own strategic communications firm.
