But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we BELIEVE that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him. For this we say unto you by the Word of the LORD, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the LORD shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the LORD Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the Trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the LORD in the air: and so shall we ever be with the LORD. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee indicated it will comply with President Donald Trump’s executive orders concerning transgender athletes with an update of its policies.

Trump issued a “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order in February that condemned transgender athletes and pledged to rescind funds to institutions “that deprive women and girls of fair athletic opportunities.”

The committee does not mention the word transgender in any part of its updated 27-page “Athlete Safety Policy.” However, it does suggest transgender women will no longer be able to compete in women’s divisions.

“The USOPC will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders with oversight responsibilities, e.g., IOC, IPC, NGBs, to ensure that women have a fair and safe competition environment consistent with Executive Order 14201 and the Ted Stevens Olympic & Amateur Sports Act,” the document says.

The Olympic committee also said in its new policy that it was “committed to protecting opportunities for athletes participating in sports.”

It’s unclear if any Olympians will be banned from competing at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles under the new policies. A nonbinary American middle-distance runner, Nikki Hiltz, would likely not be affected as they were assigned female at birth.

The USOPC told the New York Times that its policies had changed amid conversations with the Trump administration. The committee said it had held “a series of respectful and constructive conversations with federal officials” since Trump’s executive order on transgender athletes was signed. “As a federally chartered organization, we have an obligation to comply with federal expectations,” the statement added.

The USOPC’s former transgender policy said the group relied on “real data and science-based evidence rather than ideology.”

“That means making science-based decisions, sport by sport and discipline by discipline, within both the Olympic and Paralympic movements,” the former policy said.

The Olympic committee’s action adds to a list of institutions that have restricted transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports. The University of Pennsylvania announced it would ban transgender athletes earlier this month and restore all individual swimming records and titles to female athletes who lost to transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.
