President Donald Trump refused to take a question from ABC News on Tuesday, citing anchor George Stephanopoulos’s treatment of Vice President JD Vance in an interview on Sunday.
Stephanopoulos ended his interview with Vance after the vice president responded to a “bogus” report on border czar Tom Homan, in which Vance said there is “no evidence” Homan accepted a bribe. Stephanopoulos denied Vance’s claim that he was going down a “weird left-wing rabbit hole” and ended his interview as Vance was in the midst of giving another statement.
Two days later, Trump refused to answer a question from “ABC Fake News” while hosting Argentine President Javier Milei at the White House.
“I don’t take questions from ‘ABC Fake News’ after what you did with Stephanopoulos with the vice president of the United States. I don’t take questions from ‘ABC Fake News,’” Trump said before taking a question from a different reporter.
The Washington Examiner‘s Joe Concha said Stephanopoulos has “disrespected” Vance on several occasions and “simply goes to commercial” when he’s losing an argument with him. Concha added that it’s “amazing” the ABC News anchor is still employed at the network, recalling how Stephanopoulos cost the network $15 million after making false claims about Trump’s legal battles.

Meghan McCain, a former co-host of The View, also criticized Stephanopoulos, saying on X that she couldn’t believe how “rude and nasty” he was in his interview with Vance.
A report last month said Homan allegedly accepted $50,000 from the FBI in 2024, though Homan has denied any wrongdoing. Since then, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) wrote in an Oct. 8 letter that Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee never received a response from Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel on why the investigation into Homan was dropped.
