President Donald Trump is gathering top officials from his administration at the White House for another Cabinet meeting this year, scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
The meeting comes as War Secretary Pete Hegseth is facing scrutiny after a Washington Post report last week alleged that he directed the military to “kill everybody” aboard a supposed narco-terrorist boat in the southern Caribbean Sea on Sept. 2.
Democrats and other critics of Hegseth have accused the secretary of committing war crimes and violating international law.
HEGETH TO BE IN SPOTLIGHT AS TRUMP HOLDS CABINET MEETING
However, Hegseth shifted the authority of the alleged strikes to Navy Adm. Frank Mitchell Bradley, whom he and the White House have fully supported.
“Let’s make one thing crystal clear: Admiral Mitch Bradley is an American hero, a true professional, and has my 100% support. I stand by him and the combat decisions he has made — on the September 2 mission and all others since,” Hegseth wrote on X. “America is fortunate to have such men protecting us. When this [Department of War] says we have the back of our warriors — we mean it.”
