President Donald Trump raged against the news media in a Truth Social post Monday afternoon, saying that Iran is “confused” over who is winning the war because of media reporting on the war.
In a Truth Social post on Monday afternoon, Trump claimed that if someone read the “Anti-America Fake News Media” coverage of the conflict, “you would actually think we are losing the War.”
“The enemy is confused, because they get these same Media ‘reports,’ and yet they realize their Navy has been completely wiped out, their Air Force has gone onto darker runways, they have no Anti Missile or Anti Airplane Equipment, their former leaders are mostly gone (This has been, in addition to everything else, Regime Change!), and perhaps, most important of all, THE BLOCKADE, which we will not take off until there is a ‘DEAL,’ is absolutely destroying Iran,” Trump wrote.
He continued, “The Anti-America Fake News Media is rooting for Iran to win, but it’s not going to happen, because I’m in charge! Just like these unpatriotic people used every ounce of their limited strength to fight me in the Election, they continue to do so with Iran. The result will be the same — It already is!”
The ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran is set to end Wednesday evening unless a deal is struck to lengthen the pause in fighting or end the war entirely. A second round of peace talks between U.S. and Iranian officials is expected to take place this week, as the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz continues.
The U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz started on April 13. U.S. forces seized an Iranian cargo ship that was headed to an Iranian port over the weekend, according to U.S. Central Command.
Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said earlier this month that the U.S. assessed that “more than 90 percent” of Iran’s regular naval fleet was “mostly at the bottom of the Arabian Gulf.”

Trump’s post on Monday afternoon was only one in a series the president issued about the Iran war. In a separate post, he vowed not to be rushed into making a deal with Iran ahead of a 60-day congressional deadline.
“The Democrats are doing everything possible to hurt the very strong position we are in with respect to Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Monday afternoon. “But I’m not going to let them rush the United States into making a Deal that is not as good as it could have been.”
