Tracker: Notable gifts Trump has received from world leaders during his second term

February 2025: A golden samurai helmet from Shigeru Ishiba

​Then-Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba met with Trump at the White House and presented the president with a Golden samurai helmet made by a company in his hometown of Tottori, according to the New York Post.

February 2025: A WBC belt from Volodymyr Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented Trump with the World Boxing Championship belt worn by heavyweight boxer Oleksandr Usyk during a White House visit. ​The gift was ultimately overshadowed by Zelensky’s contentious meeting with Trump over negotiations to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

March 2025 and 2026: Bowl of shamrock from the Irish prime minister

Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin continued a long-standing Irish tradition by gifting Trump with a bowl of shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day at the White House. The gift commemorates Americans who immigrated to the United States from Ireland and the diplomatic ties between the countries. 

March 2025: A portrait of Trump from Vladimir Putin 

​Russian President Vladimir Putin gifted Trump a commissioned portrait of the president’s famed “fight, fight, fight” reaction after his attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania, in an act of diplomatic flattery amid tense relations between the countries. Putin did not directly give Trump the painting, but it was delivered through special envoy Steve Witkoff.

May 2025: A golf hat and gear from Mark Carney

During the 2025 G7 summit, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney presented Trump with a golf hat and gear from the Kananaskis Country Golf Course, as well as a picture of Canadian and American soldiers playing golf during World War II.

​July 2025: A jet from Qatar

​The Gulf country gifted Trump a jet after he complained about Air Force One last year. This summer, the Qatari jet is set to become the new Air Force One following a $400 million overhaul.

The lavish gift is a subject of debate, with lawmakers from both parties raising ethics and national security concerns over the jet.  

May 2025: ​A book about South African golf courses from the country’s president

​South African President Cyril Ramaphosa gifted Trump with a book about South African golf courses during a White House meeting. 

But the initially civil meeting later turned tense, with Trump confronting Ramaphosa about claims of a white genocide. 

June 2025: A birth certificate of Trump’s grandfather from the German chancellor

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz gifted Trump with a framed birth certificate of Friedrich Trump, the president’s grandfather, during a bilateral White House meeting. Trump’s grandfather was born in 1869 and was raised in Kallstadt, Germany, before immigrating to the U.S. at age 16.

July 2025: Census and marriage records of Trump’s relatives from Scotland’s first minister

​Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney, gifted Trump a 1921 Census record with details of Trump’s mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, who was born in Scotland’s Isle of Lewis during a visit to the White House. Trump was also gifted an 1853 marriage registration record for his maternal great-grandparents and a historical map of the island. Both gifts symbolize diplomacy and the shared history between the countries. 

August 2025: Golf club from Zelensky

Zelensky again visited the White House, where he gifted Trump with a golf putter that belonged to Kostiantyn Kartavtsev, a Ukrainian soldier who lost his leg in the Ukrainian war. Trump praised the injured golfer and offered Zelensky symbolic keys to the White House in return. 

Zelensky also gave Trump a letter for his wife, first lady Melania Trump.

September 2025: A leather book and a Union flag from King Charles

​King Charles gifted Trump with a leather book celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, as well as a Union flag that flew over Buckingham Palace during the Inauguration Day of Trump’s second term, during a state visit

​Trump gave King Charles a replica of one of President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s swords in return.

October 2025: ​Framed Nobel Peace Prize nomination from Javier Milei

​Argentine President Javier Milei gifted Trump a framed Nobel Peace Prize nomination during a visit to the White House.

October 2025: ​Golf clubs from Japan’s prime minister

​Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi gave Trump a putter used by Shinzo Abe, the late prime minister who was a close geopolitical ally of Trump during his first term before his assassination in 2022. Takaichi also gave Trump a signed golf bag and a gold-leaf ball.

October 2025: A gold crown from South Korea’s president

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung gifted Trump a replica of a historic gold crown during the U.S. president’s visit to South Korea. The crown is meant to signify the authority of heaven and the sovereignty of earthly leaders.

April 2026: A World War II bell from King Charles

​King Charles III gifted Trump a historic bell from a World War II submarine named the HMS Trump during a White House state dinner.

​“May it stand as a testimony to our nation’s shared history and shining future,” the British monarch said. “Should you ever need to get hold of us, just give us a ring.”

The king told Trump the submarine played a critical role against the Japanese in the Pacific Ocean, and also gave Trump a reproduction of the 1879 plans for the Resolute Desk, used by presidents in the Oval Office.  

May 2026: Chinese rose seeds from Xi Jinping

​Chinese President Xi Jinping gifted Trump a pink, yellow, and red Rosa Chinensis during Trump’s visit to China for a bilateral summit in Zhongnanhai, the Chinese government’s main leadership compound.

“These are the most beautiful roses anyone’s ever seen,” Trump said. “I asked [Xi,] ‘Could you get me some for the rose garden, and he said yes. I’ve never seen roses so big!”
