Trump will deliver remarks in front of the White House press pool, Beltway reporters, and administration officials as the WHCA gathers for the remake of the dinner after the first one in late April was disrupted when a gunman breached a security checkpoint outside the event.
The WHCA is set to give an award to the Secret Service agent who stopped the gunman before he could enter through the doors of the April gathering and to the staff at the Washington Hilton, where the first event was held. Trump’s remarks are expected to match what he had planned to say back in April, but with a slightly more muted tone, given the atmosphere of the redo after the attack and attempted assassination of the president.
