Tucker Carlson pitches 10-point vision for third-party movement

“This country needs first and foremost a recommitment to fairness, which, to remind you, is your birthright,” he said, referencing the lack of justice for victims of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein as an example of a lack of fairness. “Fairness, once again, derives from the knowledge that every person is on some basic level equal.”

“Sovereign means free from outside influence, the right to make decisions on your nation’s behalf or your own behalf without being told what to do,” he said, citing Israel’s alleged influence over U.S. foreign policy as an example of loss of sovereignty. “Sovereignty is a synonym for freedom. The opposite of sovereignty is slavery, where you have no choice.”

“A decent country is productive,” he said, contending the military industrial complex and the loan shark business are not productive but, for example, farming is. “Productive means that you make things worth having, from which you derive joy, improve the lives of other people, or they just are inherently beautiful.”

“Being around beautiful things makes you a better person, and it’s within your control,” he said. “It’s certainly within your realistic demands, and it should be near the top of that list.”

“That means that we’re physically healthy, but also spiritually healthy, clear-eyed, and bright,” he said, going on to criticize pharmaceutical companies, adding, “There’s almost no natural human activity in the United States that doesn’t seem to require a pharma product.” “It’s not shameful to want that.”

“Lying is bad, and it’s always bad,” he said in a particularly direct swipe at Trump, noting “lies” about the Iran war. “It’s an unacceptable, disqualifying sin in a leader. … We allow them to lie and to penalize us for lying, and that’s really the basis of a lot of the unfairness and corruption that we endure and that has sapped the faith of most people in their government and even in their nation.”

• Optimistic

“Optimism is also the product of systems,” he said, tying optimism to a lower likelihood of wanting to take the country to the brink of nuclear war. “The way things are structured either encourages optimism or it guarantees pessimism.”

“Living in a wise country is the goal,” he said. “How is it different from education? Well, education is what we have. Education is a credentialing system, whereby some tax-exempt institution issues you a document showing that you’ve been, quote, ‘educated.’ … It turns out people without skills, without an understanding of how things work, and without the ability to make sensible decisions, otherwise known as wisdom. It just doesn’t work.”

“Pro-human, in favor of people putting the needs of other people before the needs of, say, systems, or machines, or abstract concepts,” he said, specifically scrutinizing the “Department of War as “itself an assault on decency.”

“No country can continue without a sense of itself as a nation, and countries that fall didn’t, and that’s why they fell,” he said, arguing that there is no need for “mass migration.” “It’s not easy because this nation doesn’t have a working majority of almost anything, not race, not religion, ethnic background, history, culture, and if it continues along that path, of course, it will break up.”

Carlson’s livestream comes after former Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene shared a photo on social media of a dinner hosted at the former Fox News personality’s house in Maine attended by primaried Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and one-time Trump administration aide Joe Kent, who stepped down as Trump’s counterterrorism chief in March over the Iran war.

“We said no more foreign wars and we meant it and supported Donald Trump because he made that promise,” Taylor Greene wrote on X. “But he’s betrayed us all. Our commitment is America First for all Americans, right, left, and center. The movement has begun.”

Carlson spoke of his desire for a third party in an interview with the Columbia Journalism Review in July.

“We need options, or else let’s just give up and be ruled by the most unscrupulous people,” he said. “I’m just too young to accept that. We need a third party. … I’m going to help build a third party. There should be a good-faith effort to figure out what benefits the country.”
