On Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel criticized how Trump has handled public questions about Kirk’s death. The 31-year-old conservative activist was shot and killed on Sept. 10 while speaking at a Utah college.

When asked how he was coping with the loss outside the White House on Monday, Trump pivoted to discussing the construction of a $200 million ballroom at the White House.

“He’s at the fourth stage of grief: construction,” Kimmel said.

The host continued, “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?”

Kimmel also took aim at Vice President JD Vance, who recently appeared on Kirk’s podcast from inside the White House.

The late-night host criticized Vance for blaming the left for the violence against Kirk, noting that he did so “from the White House, where he pointed his little, mascara-stained finger directly at the left.”

During that podcast, Vance blamed “radical leftists” for the violence, calling them the biggest threat in American politics.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” Kimmel said without citing evidence.

Law enforcement officials, including Utah’s governor, have relatedly said Robinson held extreme left-wing views.
