While food insecurity is often seen through the lens of families or homeless communities, another group faces the struggle at extremely high rates: college students. MSNBC spoke with Emily, a fourth-year undergraduate student at Colorado State University has been on SNAP for three months.
“Being in college is a unique perspective because, you know, it's midterm season and there's finals coming up and break. And it's really frustrating to have to, on top of all of those things, worry about working 30 hours a week and all the other things I’m doing, and then also not know where my next meal is coming from.”
