Trump announces state visit from King Charles and Queen Camilla

This will be the first visit from the British monarch since Charles’s mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, visited the U.S. in 2007 while President George W. Bush was in office.

Charles is expected to deliver an address to Congress during the stateside visit, although exact details of the itinerary have not yet been announced. He will also visit Bermuda, without the queen, after visiting the U.S., Buckingham Palace announced.

First lady Melania Trump joined Queen Camilla and Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, on two separate tours, while Trump met with Charles and Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a visit to the U.K last September.

It is unclear whether the Princess of Wales and Prince William will join the king and queen on their U.S. tour.

The U.S. will celebrate its 250th birthday on July 4 after breaking free from the U.K. in 1776.

“This momentous occasion will be even more special this year, as we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of our Great Country. I look forward to spending time with the King, whom I greatly respect. It will be TERRIFIC!” Trump said.

Yet, Trump’s post comes after he blasted the U.K. for not aiding the U.S. in securing the Strait of Hormuz amid the Iran war.

“All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT,” Trump wrote in a separate Truth Social post.

“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!” he added.
