WATCH LIVE: President and first lady hold tree lighting ceremony

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will hold the National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony around 6 p.m. ET on Thursday.

The ceremony will be held at the Ellipse, south of the White House.

The ceremony is a presidential tradition that began in 1923.
