The Department of Agriculture is nixing any federal awards to Minnesota as the state endures a reckoning with fraud and the Trump administration’s immigration agenda.
Secretary Brooke Rollins said aid, around $130 million, will be withheld “until sufficient proof has been provided that the fraud has stopped.”
TRUMP FIRST YEAR REPORT CARD: A- PROMISE KEEPER OR ‘NIGHTMARE’ FAILURE
“Enough is enough! The Trump administration has uncovered MASSIVE fraud in Minnesota and Minneapolis—billions siphoned off by fraudsters. And those in charge have ZERO plan to fix it,” Rollins wrote on X.
“No more handouts to thieves! Time to drain the Minnesota swamp and put American taxpayers first,” she added.
Rollins sent a letter to Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey explaining the aid stoppage. She cited the Feeding Our Future fraud, alleged exploitation of the Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection program, and fraud in daycare centers.
She ordered them to provide payment justifications for any future federal dollar expenditures and to submit a report of such purchases since January 20, 2025.
“While your Administrations have turned a blind eye to documented fraud, the Trump administration has made clear that fraud, waste, and abuse are unacceptable. The American people deserve to know that their taxpayer dollars are helping those in need — not criminals,” she concluded.

Rollins faced swift condemnation from Minnesota Democrats for suspending the funding, who threatened her with legal action.
“I will not allow you to take from Minnesotans in need. I’ll see you in court, @SecRollins,” Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison wrote on X.
The blocked funding means that around 450,000 people on SNAP in the state will not receive their SNAP benefits. SNAP is provided to people with low income to financially assist them in purchasing food, but Rollins accused Minnesota officials of covering up fraud in the program.
THOUSANDS ALREADY APPLIED FOR MINNESOTA’S NEW PAID LEAVE PROGRAM OPEN TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
The pulled government funding comes as the state grapples with the death of a woman who struck an ICE officer with her SUV in Minneapolis, before being shot and killed.
Protesters have claimed the killing was unjustified, placing the blame on ICE for maintaining a presence in the city.
