Trump names Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, and other leaders to tech council

The President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology is expected to advise Trump on policy regarding artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, and other related areas. The panel will be co-chaired by White House AI and crypto czar David Sacks and presidential science adviser Michael Kratsios.

“Under President Trump, PCAST will focus on topics related to the opportunities and challenges that emerging technologies present to the American workforce, and ensuring all Americans thrive in the Golden Age of Innovation,” the White House said.

After the 2024 election, Zuckerberg became friendlier with Trump in a stark departure from the president’s first term. Meta donated $1 million to Trump’s 2025 inauguration fund, demonstrating Zuckerberg’s renewed relationship with the president, who, in return, has been less critical of Zuckerberg.

Oracle has had a better working relationship with Trump for years because of Ellison’s support for the Republican. Since 2024, Ellison has increasingly aligned himself with the second Trump administration. Last year, he partnered with Trump to announce a major $500 billion investment that funds AI infrastructure in the coming years.

Notably, Ellison’s son is Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison, who is currently in the process of purchasing Warner Bros. Discovery, barring any regulatory delays.

Other big-name business leaders joining the council are Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Dell CEO Michael Dell, and venture capitalist Marc Andreessen.

Shortly after taking office last year, Trump signed an executive order establishing PCAST. More executives are expected to join the body, considering it was designed to include up to 24 members.

The White House said additional members will be named at some point in the near future, and more information about the council’s inaugural meeting will be provided soon.
