President Donald Trump on Thursday lauded his favorability among adults in the United States compared to that of Tucker Carlson, continuing a feud sparked by the commentator’s criticism of the Iran war.
In a Truth Social post, Trump also included Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones as figures he deemed “highly overrated,” a move that follows his going scorched Earth on the conservative podcasters last week.
“Tucker is a Low IQ person – Always easy to beat, and highly overrated,” Trump said. “So are Megyn Kelly, ‘Candace'(Really Dumb and mentally ill!), and Bankrupt Alex Jones, who is completely ‘fried.’” There are others, also!”
The president also suggested he should make a list of podcasters and conservative influencers that he considers “good, bad, and somewhere in the middle.”
Trump’s post included a Mediaite article that recapped a CNN broadcast in which journalist Harry Enten shared favorability ratings of both the president and Carlson.
The polling showed that Carlson has significantly lost favorability among Republicans and GOP-leaning independents over the last year, dropping by more than 40 percentage points.
The March YouGov poll found that only 17% of U.S. adults had a “favorable” view of Carlson. Trump, on the other hand, had a 36% favorability rating among U.S. adults.
Carlson, who was once a staunch supporter of Trump, has opposed U.S. operations in the Middle East and has accused Trump of “falling” for Israel’s pitch to force regime change in Iran.
In response, Trump called Carlson “a broken man when he got fired from Fox,” claiming “he’s never been the same” and stating he needs to “see a good psychiatrist.”
Despite Trump’s disapproval of Carlson, the commentator last week dismissed the idea that he has fallen out of the president’s favor, and rather said he “feels sorry” for him as he does “for all slaves.”
Carlson seemed to suggest Trump was being controlled in some way and said it’s “not as simple” as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dictating how the president makes decisions, adding that summarizing it this way “wouldn’t be totally inaccurate.”
TUCKER CARLSON INSISTS HE HASN’T ‘FALLEN OUT’ WITH TRUMP OVER IRAN WAR
The media figure has somewhat embraced Trump’s labeling of “low IQ,” as Carlson has since launched merchandise bearing the nickname.
Infowars creator Alex Jones, journalist Megyn Kelly, and commentator Candace Owens have shared similar opposition to Trump’s decisions in Iran and received a similar lashing from the president. They were labeled “losers” alongside Carlson.
