I say “Thank God”. But, Am I Really Thanking God?

Believers say it. Unbelievers say it. It rolls off our tongue without a second thought. Scroll social media and you’ll see it everywhere: “Thank God!”

But what does God call “thanks”? Here’s the beauty of His love. He doesn’t leave it vague or sentimental. He doesn’t limit thanksgiving to a phrase or a feeling.

Yes, words matter. Yes, praise matters. But God doesn’t stop at lip service. He looks at the heart, and He calls for ACTION.

“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” Hebrews 3:15,16

“Communicate” here means to share, to give, to support, to help. That is, thanksgiving expressed through doing good. That is, to give. To share. To give material support.

And YES, giving is great. But especially to those who share the faith and whose who are working hard in advancing the gospel. And afterwards, we should remember that this was done unto the Lord NOT for our glorification.

“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10

So, consider this: Thank God, not just with words, but with actions that prove your gratitude.

A Final Word of Hope:

Ephesians 1:13 gives a powerful promise: You are saved and securely sealed the very moment you hear and believe the word of truth the good news of your salvation.

That same message of truth is available to you right now:

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:3,4

Choose to believe this today. Life moves fast and there is no better time to find that security than right now.
