Pray. Then Do What?

Believers in Christ know to pray and give thanks. But Scripture teaches there is a second step, something Jesus Himself commanded.

When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane before His arrest, He told His disciples to “Watch and pray.” Not just pray… but watch.

Watch for temptation. Watch for God’s movement. Watch for what He is doing around you.

The Apostle Paul echoes the same instruction:

“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2

Yes, we know how to pray, but what are we to do after we pray? WATCH.

What are we watching for? Blessings in your life you didn’t notice before. Protections you didn’t realize God provided. Opportunities to speak that you didn’t see yesterday.

And Paul continues:

“Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.” Colossians 4:3,4

After we pray, we look for the open door, the chance to speak of Christ, to express our thankfulness, to share the hope we have.

A Final Word of Hope:

Ephesians 1:13 gives a powerful promise: You are saved and securely sealed the very moment you hear and believe the word of truth the good news of your salvation.

That same message of truth is available to you right now:

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:3,4

Choose to believe this today. Life moves fast and there is no better time to find that security than right now.
