GEORGE is BACK!
John F. Kennedy, Jr.’s publication from the mid-1990s made a comeback in 2022, and like the original George, it’s not just politics as usual. JFK Jr. was the Editor-in-Chief of George Magazine, a polished publication focused on pop culture, art, and politics. The magazine ran from 1995 to 2001, featuring 57 issues with 61 inventive covers.
John Kennedy Jr. shared Charles De Gaulle’s sentiment that “politics is too serious a matter to be left to the politicians.” George Magazine was his way to simplify and humanize politics, to entice the American people to take a more active role in their government, and to share much needed information in a creative way. Best of all, writers from both sides of the aisle, and those in the middle of the aisle, were tapped to share their expertise.
Many of the articles featured in the original magazines pertain to current events, a fact that has led many to realize how long many of the issues of today have been taking place. During the past two decades, the world has evolved drastically. Journalism itself has changed and Americans are predominantly hearing one side of the story. The concept behind George Magazine has been lost and forgotten for years.
Now, more than ever, America needs George.
Since the world has evolved, George Magazine has evolved. Today’s George will still combine politics and pop-culture, but it adds in sections regarding faith, business, finance, luxury living, and travel. George Magazine is known for its interviews with people who may have conflicting viewpoints, but we trust our readers to form their own opinions. It’s time to get back to the original mission.
We hope you’ll join us as we continue the quest to “demystify the political process,” as John Kennedy Jr. wrote in his Editor’s Letter in the Inaugural Issue. We hope you’ll feel compelled to get involved locally and become active participants in the political process. We are not right versus left, but rather Americans taking control of our country’s future. Let George Magazine be an instrument for positive change and unity.
