Take CAPTIVE Your RUNAWAY THOUGHTS!

Our mind will run wild if you let it. Paul tells us to take those thoughts captive and make them obey the truth of Christ.

When I was in elementary school, recess football wasn’t real football. No passing. No plays. No points. You just ran around holding the ball until someone tackled you and stole it. Then everyone chased the new guy with the ball until he went down. Whoever had the ball, that’s who you went after.

Paul has the same attitude toward your thoughts. If a thought shows up that opposes the truth of Christ: fear, panic, worst‑case imagination, you don’t let it run free. You chase it down. You grab it. You make it obey.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5

Notice Paul doesn’t say “ignore the thought” or “try not to think it.” He says take it captive. Because runaway thoughts don’t stay small. They sprint. They multiply. They exaggerate danger. They tell stories God never told.

So, when fear shows up… When your mind invents a disaster, when anxiety paints a false future… You go after it. You grab it like that kid holding the football. You drag it back to the truth.

Take those thoughts captive. Make them obedient to Christ. If you do that, you may just chase down the ball and start running in a new direction… one shaped by truth, not terror.

Ephesians 1:13 gives a powerful promise: You are saved and securely sealed the very moment you hear and believe the word of truth the good news of your salvation.

That same message of truth is available to you right now:

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:3,4

Choose to believe this today. Life moves fast and there is no better time to find that security than right now.
