This is the last week when everyone plays in the NFL for a while. Next week marks the beginning of the bye weeks. It is only two teams sitting out next week, but it is still nice to have all the teams playing every week. Sunday has a great card, and I’m looking forward to a few different games, but one that is standing out is between the Cardinals and the Giants.
The Arizona Cardinals are not quite as bad as expected this season. They are 1-2 coming into this game after a big win to open the season against the Chargers. I’m not expecting that Arizona finds a way to make the postseason, or even end with an average or winning record. However, they haven’t been terrible, either. They’ve played surprisingly well on the road in two games. They won the Chargers game, and they lost to the 49ers last week by just six points. Their lone home game saw them destroyed by the Seattle Seahawks.

Through three games, it seems like there is a clear goal for the Cardinals. They want to put the ball into either Jeremiyah Love’s hands or get it into Trey McBride’s. For the season, Love has 41 carries for 160 yards and one touchdown. He has also been involved in the passing attack with 10 receptions for 44 yards and a score. McBride is third in the league with 26 receptions, resulting in 211 yards and two touchdowns. Jacoby Brissett targets him early and often. The Giants have actually excelled against tight ends and running backs.

The New York Giants started their year looking great with a win over division rival Dallas. Then they went to Los Angeles and not only lost to the Rams, but they lost Jaxon Dart, likely for the season. Last week, the team faced the Titans.
They escaped with a win over Tennessee, but they didn’t exactly dominate the game. The final score was 12-7, and New York could only score field goals in the game. They were in control of the game the entire time, but it wasn’t like the offense looked sharp with Jameis Winston under center.

Perhaps with a bit more time to prepare, the team can be a bit more competitive. Winston can get a full week of practice. However, New York also might’ve shown they don’t fully believe in him because they traded for JJ McCarthy this week. With just one touchdown scored over the past two weeks, the Giants need to find offense, and they need to find it in a hurry. The Cardinals have the 10th worst passing defense in football. They also have the seventh-worst running defense. This might be the cure for the Giants’ woes.

I understand that the Cardinals have looked decent in two of the three games, and have played well on the road. However, I just don’t buy that the team is going to travel across the country and win this game. The look-ahead line, when everyone was healthy, was Giants -7, and now they are getting 2.5 points.
I actually think New York wins this game. I’ll take the points, but I will sprinkle on the moneyline. I do think both teams will probably struggle to score, and I’d lean toward the under.
