Uber is following in the footsteps of a handful of tech companies flocking to Trump and mending strained relationships. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman donated $1 million to the fund last week. Altman had donated to President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign. Since then, Altman has been tapped by the Democratic mayor-elect of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie, as an adviser.

Amazon and Meta also contributed $1 million to open a relationship with the president-elect. Meta banned Trump from its Facebook and Instagram platforms for two years following the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol. Trump returned to the platforms in full force during his campaign.

Trump invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to his inauguration to make history as the first time a foreign leader has attended the ceremony in nearly 150 years. Xi reportedly declined the invitation.
