  1. Pamela DeHart says:

    Social Security is not welfare.
We were taxed for his benefit, to have later in our senior years. People that have not payed into it for 20 years shouldn’t benefit from it. Also it has been robbed from greedy politicians numerous times.
People with disabilities that have not paid into the system should have welfare or something completely different that is funded through other sources.
It is not fair to punish retired seniors by forcing them to work more years to pay for others that have not.

  2. Abigail Wolfer says:

    Agree.

  3. Abigail says:

These are all good points. However, one thing you’re leaving out is that Social Security is being given to people for whom it was never designed. It was meant to be for retirement. It was not meant to be a form of disability. It was also not meant to go to people who never paid into it.

The other thing they leave out is the fact that it should have been kept in a separate fund. Instead it was thrown into the General Fund and it’s been stolen from over the years.

If they want to do away with Social Security and force people to work on their own retirement, then they need to educate the students on how to do that and they need to phase it out slowly so that those of us who have paid in get back what we paid in.

    1. Hi Abigail,

In an upcoming article we actually delve into what you are saying, and something even MORE harsh. That is that in the tax-cuts during the Trump Administration, which has added $1.8 TRILLION to the National Debt, several Republicans and Democrats proposed solidifying Social Security for a LONG time to come. This was rejected primarily by Republicans in both the House and Senate.
