Why the “Easy” Route is Actually Making Your Life Harder

By Gene Ho

A lot of people think doing the wrong thing is just taking the easy way out. But Romans 1:28 totally flips that script. It actually says that people who ignore God end up doing things that are “not convenient.”

That sounds completely backward until you understand the original context of the text.

The verse states that God gave the ungodly over to a depraved mind to do things that are “not convenient.” Why phrase it exactly like that? Today, we think of convenience as something quick, effortless, and entirely for our own benefit. But the word actually has a second meaning: “fitting” or “suitable.”

When you live outside of God’s design, you are forcing a lifestyle that does not actually fit how you were built to function. Ultimately, taking the “easy” route makes life so much harder.

As believers, our minds are wired differently. The reminder here is clear: God’s way is the path that actually fits your life. You might feel like waking up early to read your Bible is a massive inconvenience. In reality, it is the most fitting thing you can do because it instantly aligns your mindset with God’s purpose for your day.

Stop taking the hard road and start your morning in the Word.
