Christ Over Cliques

Are YOU like those in the house of Chloe? The reference is found in 1 Corinthians 1:11:

“For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.”

Who were they? They were the ones who refused to build their identity on personalities. They were the ones who didn’t say, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas.”

“Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 1:12

When everyone else was choosing sides, they were choosing Christ.

They saw the pride. They saw the division. They saw the personality‑worship. And instead of staying silent, they told the truth.

Paul agreed with them:

“Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?” 1 Corinthians 1:13

Even though Paul was respected, he refused to let anyone use his name to build their identity. He pointed everything back to Jesus.

The House of Chloe did the same. They were stewards of unity, people who loved Christ enough to protect His church.

So, the question becomes: Are you like the House of Chloe? Do you choose Christ over personalities?

A Final Word of Hope:

Ephesians 1:13 gives a powerful promise: You are saved and securely sealed the very moment you hear and believe the word of truth the good news of your salvation.

That same message of truth is available to you right now:

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4. Choose to believe this today. Life moves fast and there is no better time to find that security than right now.
