It feels almost haunting because it connects so directly to a recent experience my daughter and I had while driving through Oklahoma, along part of the historic Trail of Tears. As we passed through the land, we saw the signs, and she asked me what the Trail of Tears meant and what it represented. Her question, simple yet profound, made me reflect more deeply on this tragic and horrific chapter of American history.
