Christians Are Forgetting This One Command and It’s Destroying Their Peace

Philippians 4:5-7 “Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Worry isn’t just a bad habit…it’s something God tells His people not to do. Scripture treats anxiety the same way it treats any other sin: something we must confront, not excuse. As God’s children, we can’t shrug it off as “just how I am.” The more we recognize that worry shows a lack of trust in God, the more seriously we’ll fight against it (Hebrews 12:4).

So how do we fight worry?

We fight it at the very beginning. The moment you feel your mind getting overwhelmed or you notice a fearful thought creeping in, go straight to God. Ask Him to pull you out of it. One of the strongest ways to push back against anxiety is to regularly think about God’s goodness, power, and ability to take care of you. When you truly believe “The Lord is my Shepherd,” you can confidently say, “I shall not want.”

Paul continues: “but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known unto God.”

That “with thanksgiving” part is huge…and it’s where most of us struggle. It means thanking God before you see the answer. It’s the confidence of a child who knows their Father will come through.

Jesus reinforces this in Matthew 6:25-33: “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought (anxious concern) for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? … But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Nothing in your life is too big or too small to bring to God. He wants it all…your fears, your needs, your future, your struggles.

Ephesians 1:13 says people are saved and sealed when they hear and believe the Gospel…the Word of Truth. Here is that Gospel, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 “that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

Believe this today. The time is short.
