Do you have your token?

When you stand with Jesus. When you stand for truth. When you choose righteousness, you may find yourself facing criticism, hostility, or even persecution. And what makes it harder is that justice doesn’t always show up immediately.

But the New Testament gives us a powerful perspective.

Growing up, I remember my dad carrying a pocket full of New York subway tokens. They weren’t the ride. They were simply the proof that you had already paid and were allowed through the gate.

In the same way, the Bible uses the word token to describe something that appears after you believe. A visible sign, a piece of evidence, a marker that shows what’s really happening spiritually.

Paul writes: “Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer.” 2 Thessalonians 1:5

Here’s the meaning: Your persecutions and tribulations, the pressure you endure after believing, become a manifest token, a visible indicator that God is at work in you. Not a ticket to salvation, but evidence that you already belong to Christ and are walking in His Kingdom.

And Paul goes further: “And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.” Philippians 1:28

Your courage under pressure becomes a token, a sign of your salvation. Their hostility becomes a token, a sign of their direction without Christ.

Everyone gets a token. Yours is evidence of salvation. Theirs is evidence of spiritual loss.

Not because you earned anything but because your endurance reveals what God has already done in you.

A Final Word of Hope:

Ephesians 1:13 gives a powerful promise: You are saved and securely sealed the very moment you hear and believe the word of truth the good news of your salvation.

That same message of truth is available to you right now:

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:3,4

Choose to believe this today. Life moves fast and there is no better time to find that security than right now.
