The chances of me getting in the ring, octagon, or cage are slim to none, but if I did, my entrance would be solemn and dignified.
It’d be to the point that people would be wondering if they were about to watch a fight or had accidentally wandered into a funeral.
Why? Because if I entered with a K-pop dance routine and then got knocked out in the first round like one fighter in Japan just did, it would be embarrassing.
That’s why.

According to TMZ, MMA fighter Ryoma “Jolly” Shishimoto entered the ring at RIZIN 54 inside Toyota Center Tokyo by cutting a rug to South Korean girl group ILLIT’s song “It’s Me.”
It’s no “Enter Sandman,” but to each their own…
But Shishimoto didn’t just do a small dance. It was a full-on choreographed production.

His opponent, Joe Hiramoto, had to be licking his chops when he realized his opponent was going to be gassed from doing a dance number moments before the bell. In fact, Hiramoto dominated and ended the fight with a TKO in the first round.
Not the result you want after dancing like that. That’s a routine you bust out when you’ve got the fight in the bag before it begins because your opponent has bronchitis or got hit by a car while walking to the arena.
Not if they’re willing and able to kick your ass.

It turns out doing a choreographed K-pop dance before hopping in the ring for an MMA match is not a great idea. Who knew?! (iStock)
Shishimoto suffered a broken jaw and some messed-up teeth in the fight, which is a real shame.
But this might be an important lesson: don’t tucker yourself out with a K-pop dance before entering the ring, and maybe don’t waste time getting your choreography down pat when you could be wailing on the heavy bag.
It’d be like getting mad that you lost an arm wrestling match and said, “How did I lose?! I spent all that time learning to juggle.”
