To THOSE who THINK they are SO CLEVER!

WHY IS THE GOSPEL “NOT ENOUGH” FOR SOME? THEY WANT TO BE CLEVER. Many people today feel a constant need to appear insightful.

When simple news events happen, they rush to be the first to tell you an “alternate story” about what’s really going on.

Their whole identity depends on being seen as the one who “figures things out,” the one with “hidden knowledge,” the one who can reveal what no one else supposedly sees.

But here’s the danger: When that mindset crosses over into how they treat Scripture, it becomes the same error the Pharisees made.

For them, the cross is not enough. The idea of simply believing is not enough. They need something extra, something complicated, and something that makes them look wise.

Yet the Bible cuts straight through that:

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18

And the very next Scripture verse tells us why it’s all foolishness: “For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” 1 Corinthians 1:19

God is not impressed with human cleverness. He honors simple faith in His Son. While believing the Gospel is seemingly simple, walking the walk is HARD and requires constant re-enforcement of strength from Christ Himself. Be wise in God’s eyes and not in the eyes of those who chase “secret knowledge” and clever theories.

“Tear these things down starting with believing in a promise” Ephesians 1:13 shares a powerful promise. It explains that you are saved and securely sealed the very moment you hear and believe in the word of truth, which is the good news of your salvation.

That same message of truth is available to you right now: “That Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

Choose to believe this today. Life moves fast, and there is no better time to find that security than right now.
