President-elect Donald Trump called for the CIA to intervene over the border, citing the failure of other U.S. agencies.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump derided the Department of Justice, FBI, and local prosecutors for failing to take action, citing “weak, ineffective, and virtually nonexistent leadership.”

“They are incompetent and corrupt, having spent all of their waking hours unlawfully attacking their political opponent, ME, rather than focusing on protecting Americans from the outside and inside violent SCUM that has infiltrated all aspects of our government, and our Nation itself,” Trump said, adding that Democrats should be “ashamed of themselves.”
“The CIA must get involved, NOW, before it is too late. The USA is breaking down – A violent erosion of Safety, National Security, and Democracy is taking place all across our Nation. Only strength and powerful leadership will stop it. See you on January 20th. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he concluded.
Trump was sparse on the details as to how the CIA could intervene. While he has clashed with the agency heavily in the past, comparing it to the Nazis during his presidency, he has focused most of his attacks during his campaign on the FBI and DOJ.

Several of his Cabinet picks are openly hostile toward the CIA, including FBI director nominee Kash Patel and Director of National Intelligence nominee Tulsi Gabbard.
Trump nominated John Ratcliffe, who served as the DNI head in Trump’s first administration, as CIA director for his second term. Mike Pompeo and Gina Haspel served as CIA directors during Trump’s first term — Trump’s relations with both have since soured.
