Believers! Don’t be ALLURED by WORDS of False Teachers!

Believes know those whom we need to avoid. But also remember to avoid those who can motivate you by exhilaration. What?!

As believers, we generally have a good feeling of who to avoid. We know to avoid people that hate the word of God. However, what if the person is a charismatic teacher that claims to be a believer?

Know there are those who POSE as believers of Christ. In fact, Peter talked about some of these would even being “leaders” in the church. False teachers! False teachers that would allure.

Now most of the time, we think about allure in a sexual sense. But in the second book of Peter, he is talking about alluring to heresies. HERESIES! Meaning? Destructive sects. Destructive movements WITHIN the church!

Peter starts the second chapter by saying this:

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.” 2 Peter 2:1

And then Peter informs us how these ones would do this:

“For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.” 2 Peter 2:18

Be careful of those who speak SWELLING WORDS OF VANITY! Now, not ALWAYS their OWN vanities, but appealing to OUR vanity. Yes, it may be alluring, but WE are drawn to God’s word in the Bible. And THAT is excitement enough.

But HOW do we avoid these? By READING the Bible DAILY so you know when UNTRUTH is being taught. Even UNTRUTH by a charismatic teacher!

Ephesians 1:13 gives a powerful promise: You are saved and securely sealed the very moment you hear and believe the word of truth the good news of your salvation.

That same message of truth is available to you right now:

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:3,4

Choose to believe this today. Life moves fast and there is no better time to find that security than right now.
